Life Management Services is an innovative human resource consulting firm based in Cary, North Carolina. Hal and Marilyn Shook co-founded their company in 1976 in the greater Washington, D.C. area on the premise that “Success is people working and achieving together.” They provide a wide range of programs for enhancing the life of individuals and helping organizations achieve objectives through the productivity and alignment of people. The LMS approach has evolved from over 50 years of experience as CEO in increasingly responsible positions and as consultants to a wide range of small and large, private and public sector organizations.
About Hal Shook
Hal graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds graduate degrees from George Washington University and the National War College. He first learned his core leadership principles as the commander of a World War II fighter squadron before, during, and after the D-Day landing. He later commanded Air Force units numbering 300 (Fighter Squadron) to 5,000 (Air Division) people. Beyond staff assignments in HQ, USAF, and the Joints Chiefs of Staff, he also served as Commandant of four major Air Force training schools. Three of these were started from the ground floor.
Hal describes himself as a husband, father of four successful and athletic sons, grandfather to some fifteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren and …once a fighter pilot, always a fighter pilot. He is dedicated to conveying lessons learned to the improvement of society, organizations, individuals, and in particular, entrepreneurs.
About Marilyn Shook
Originally schooled at Mills College in Oakland, California, Marilyn holds a B.A. from the American University and accredited study at La Sorbonne, Paris; the University of Texas at Austin; and the University of Maryland, Overseas Division (France).
As Executive Senior Vice President and Co-Founder of Life Management Services Marilyn’s mission is to provide the means/process that inspires people to get up in the morning and contribute to the world of their choosing and to assist organizations to become a humane, productive, and contributing entity in a global sense. Marilyn has worked with a large number and variety of organizations, diverse populations, professions, and vocations as a management trainer, facilitator, and program development executive. As a businesswoman, wife, mother, homemaker, and linguist, she has an acute perception of the values, needs, and aspirations of people.

Widely known for their expertise as a “training team,” Hal and Marilyn care about people and organizations and are dedicated to enhancing the life of the individual and the corporation. They have conducted workshops and seminars for people from most every state in the country as well as a number of foreign nations.
